Vancouver

Vancouver is a city where mountains meet the sea, and the Pacific air carries both wilderness and cosmopolitan ease. Ringed by snow-capped peaks and sprawling parks, it feels less like a typical metropolis and more like an oversized town that happens to have world-class restaurants, galleries, and neighborhoods packed with personality. The light here is particular—soft, clear, reflective off water—and it shapes everything from how the glass towers glow at dusk to the mood of a morning walk along the seawall. You come for the outdoor living: hiking in the North Shore, kayaking in False Creek, cycling through Stanley Park's green lung. But you stay for the food scene that draws from the city's Pacific Rim heritage, the artistic energy of neighborhoods like Mount Pleasant, and the simple pleasure of standing in the heart of a major city while watching eagles and sailboats pass by.
