In most destinations, choosing a month is a question of temperature or rain. In Pristina the deciding variable is air: the city sits on a plain ringed by hills that traps smoke when the cold arrives, and its winter is among the most polluted in Europe. Within the breathable half of the year, September is the best month by a distance.

Pristina for the Traveller on a Budget with No Checklist

It is probably the cheapest capital in Europe and one of the few where the traveller is not an expected customer. It has no old town, no great museums, no list of monuments to tick off. What it has is a very young city, an enormous park on its edge and a coffee that costs a euro and buys you the whole afternoon. For one specific profile, that is exactly enough.
