Itineraries for Bern

1 itinerary

Bern for a couple, three days, on footBern's old town is small enough to cross in twenty minutes, which is exactly why it rewards three slow days instead of one rushed one. You'll walk sandstone arcades to a working medieval clock, climb a cathedral tower for the whole city at once, watch bears from a few metres away, and swim the same river that cuts the town in half. Meals stay close to whatever you're doing, from a granary-turned-brasserie to a small family kitchen near the armoury street. Nothing here needs a car or a rush. The old town, the bear enclosure, the rose garden and the river are all within a comfortable walk of each other, with the Gurten hill a short funicular ride beyond. 3 days · 18 stops
